NOTE ON LEAP AND THE “WORLD OF WORK”

The Liberal Education As Practice (LEAP) requirement carries with it an emphasis on taking academic knowledge into the “world of work” and connecting this practical experience back to the academic work in the classroom. A basic definition of the “world of work” is an out-of-the-classroom experience where some of the skills and knowledge of a particular discipline are applied. This experience is then tied back to the academic environment in discussion, and activity or reflection, making an active connection between real-world contexts and students' academic learning.
